Although gift cards provide the receiver with the option to purchase whatever he/she wants rather than risking the possibility of giving an item that is unwanted, I can’t help but feel like gift cards are just plain lazy gifts. But having seen the clever packaging of gift cards from retailers like Target this season, I’m beginning to come around a little as the fun packaging of the gift cards feels like a very personal touch. A gift card package that you can actually use or play with seems like a far more tangible reminder of the special person who gave it to you rather than merely having a cold plastic card tucked away in a wallet or envelop. Personally, I’d be excited to see some better gift card packages from fashion retailers, especially since clothing is so hard to buy for others. I wonder what a gift card package from Ralph Lauren would look like…hmmm..mm.. In the meantime, here are some neat gift card packages from Target.
